Several informational signs tell the story of Floyd and the attempts to rescue him. A great piece of caving history. Not much To See. This is basically a short walk thru the woods to Sand Cave which you can’t get to.
The path is a very nice walkway that is wheelchair accessible. The path has a few signs on what took place in Sand Cave in the ‘s. You can read about it on the internet however. Quick hike with some interesting history. We went off the boardwalk trail and explored into the cave entrance! This is a short walk, take the time to read the information boards. If you have time to stop and take quick walk then this is for you. Great interesting story at the end of the walk with a Cave entrance view.
Short hike and lots of important Kentucky history. Short, easy hike, and has an interesting story. A short and very easy stroll to the site of a cave rescue in that received nationwide attention. The trail consists of small gravel pebbles and is flat. It leads to a platform overlooking the cave. Along the trail are signs that give a timeline of the unsuccessful rescue.
Worth a quick stroll to see it if nothing more than the interesting history. The day was sunny, clear and cool, and 3 cars in the lot when I arrived in the morning. Very few people where visiting.
