Antlerless deer permit lottery applications are accepted online only. The lottery opened late June and closed August 1, at PM. There is no fee to apply for an antlerless deer permit. Exceptions: See Maine resident landowners or paraplegic license.

All hunters, including those who did not apply to the lottery, those who received a permit through the lottery, and those that applied to the lottery but did not receive a permit through the lottery, may purchase an antlerless deer permit online on a first come, first served basis. If you received a permit through the lottery and wish to purchase a second antlerless deer permit, you may purchase a second antlerless deer permit online.
If antlerless deer permits still remain after the start of the firearms season, a hunter may purchase 1 additional permit. Regular Firearms Season and Muzzleloader Seasons: During these seasons, only those hunters possessing an antlerless deer permit may hunt antlerless deer and bucks with antlers less than three inches in length; other hunters are restricted to hunting bucks with antlers three inches or more in length.
Regular Archery and Crossbow Season: During the regular archery and crossbow season on deer does not include expanded archery , bucks may be taken statewide. Antlerless deer taken without a permit during the regular archery and crossbow season are not additional to the buck that is granted by the archery hunting license. Expanded Archery Season: Those seeking expanded archery antlerless permits do not need to apply to the lottery.

The number of antlerless deer permits to be allocated for each WMD or deer management subunit will not exceed the numbers listed below. You also can’t transfer anymore. As an aside, also new this year is that in some WMDs you cannot kill a doe with archery gear if you do not have an any deer permit. And, if I am reading the rules correctly, if you do not have an any deer permit and kill a doe in a zone where it is allowed with archery equipment, that is your one deer for the year.

I think he meant you can only TAG one deer at a time. If you received a permit through the lottery and wish to purchase a second antlerless deer permit, you may purchase a second antlerless deer permit online at mefishwildlife. But the upside is you now can harvest two deer a year. That is a win, win.. Also for the sake of discussion Are there that many deer in Maine that we needed to go to this type of system?
I get what is trying to be done and admit I sort of like it. However, I wonder what public access is like in those WMDs that have 5 figure permit allocations. I suspect you’ll have guys trying to kill 10 deer on the acres that have access while the other 3, acres are barely touched. Also, I’m willing to bet that in the time Zone 6 has had any deer permits, you could count on both hands and probably have fingers left over, the number of deer killed via archery Now, unless you are drawn, you can’t kill a doe.

Those who do not have a complimentary paraplegic license but qualify under this section must submit a letter signed by a physician verifying the ambulatory disability.
The same application is used to enter the antlerless deer permit lottery. Note: If you apply for and win a super pack antlerless deer permit you will not be entered in the landowner or regular permit lottery. Any private landowner is eligible for the landowner permit drawing if the person owns a particular piece of land that is: 25 or more contiguous acres in size; is agricultural, forested or undeveloped land; and open to hunting, including hunting by permission. Any dependent living in the household of a qualifying landowner is eligible.
Applicant’s hunting privilege cannot be under revocation.
